Preschool Gift Guide – Books
Our preschool gift guide for reading makes it easy to shop for kids ages 3 through 5. Whether you are shopping for a birthday or for Christmas, this list is great for boys and girls. We limit our Santa Christmas gifts to four categories and one is READ.
Our Big Nugget LOVES to read and these were some of our favorites – which is why we originally made this preschool gift guide for reading a few years ago.
Now Little Nugget is now at the stage where she is reading a few sight words and has her favorite books memorized. While I’m asking family to get her some early reader books for Christmas this year, I couldn’t resist grabbing these at Barnes and Noble the other day – members get an additional 20% off.
The Not Very Merry Pout Pout Fish
Some of our other favorites lately include the Me Reader books. These are great because she can read independently, something she sees her big sister doing a lot. The pages are color-coded and she can follow along with the story.
This preschool gift guide for reading wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t include the older siblings. Big Nugget is supposed to read each day for 20 minutes and there is nothing that melts my heart more than when she decides to read to her little sister. Some of their favorites to read together are the Piggie and Elephant books or Pete the Cat books. Having her read “easy” books to her sister helps Big Nugget read faster and keep her little sister’s attention. She will lose interest if she hears her sister struggling to sound out words and then Big Nugget loses confidence so, with my girls, it’s best to keep the read-aloud with a younger sibling as easy as possible.
